"The African born polymath generates new meanings through an eclectic tapestry of word, sound, and picture."
Born in Ghana not long after independence, Staché daCosta grew up shaped by the energy of a nation finding its voice — and by pan-Africanism as a living, breathing philosophy, not a museum piece. That consciousness runs through everything he makes.
In his twenties he moved to the United Kingdom, eventually leaving with his family to settle in the United States before making Melbourne, Australia his home. Between those chapters, he has travelled the world — including an expedition to Antarctica — gathering the kind of perspective that doesn't come from a library.
He holds a Doctorate in Animation and has built a career that refuses easy categorisation: artist, academic, multi-instrumentalist. Guitar, bass, harmonica, drums, percussion, keys — Staché approaches music the way he approaches ideas, with breadth and without apology. His lyrics are politically aware, socially conscious, and rooted in a lifelong commitment to speaking plainly about what he sees.
He was a creative from the start, forging his path against the voices of many who couldn't yet see what he was building. After two decades of creating without releasing, Staché is putting new music into the world again — not because he ever stopped making it, but because the moment has arrived.
